On Thursday, Danny Glover, actor and activist and long-standing anti-Asian bias protestor, joined health care workers at a rally where he spoke about solidarity and supporting one another.

Glover spoke to the local 1199SEIU union members as well as residents of Manhattan’s Chinatown neighborhoods that “We Stand Here, Will Stand Here, We’ll Fight Here” We have your back.

Rev. Al Sharpton joined him on stage at the rally.

Sharpton stated, “We came to this community so Asian mothers don’t need to fear coming out because there are brothers and sisters who will stand by them.”

He said, “You cannot fight for George Floyd and ignore all the hatred that is happening in the Asian community.”

In the wake of being unfairly blamed by the coronavirus, incidents of bias against Asian Americans have increased in the past year. Attacks were reported in New York City as well as elsewhere across the country.

A survey by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research revealed that a majority Asian Americans feel unsafe in public places because of their race.
